The China Threat
- US defense, intelligence, and security experts recognize the threat that an increasingly aggressive People's Republic of China represents to the United States and, more generally, to western liberal democracy and to our shared values of individual rights, the equal dignity and freedom of each person, respect for religious free exercise, free speech, and freedom from oppressive government intrusion.
- The Federal Bureau of Investigation has labeled the Chinese Communist government a “grave threat to the economic well-being and democratic values of the United States,” and national security agencies in the U.S., Canada, Britain, Australia, and New Zealand have publicly warned that the CCP is “engaged in the most sustained scaled and sophisticated theft of intellectual property and expertise in human history."
- United States authorities have further described efforts by the Chinese Communist Party to spread its influence by infiltrating U.S. academic institutions, think tanks, and nonprofits and by targeting and harassing Chinese students studying in the United States who dare to speak out against the Chinese government’s serious violations of international human rights, including its genocidal treatment of the Uighur population in Xinjiang.
Our Approach
- At State Shield, our mission is to combat the threat of an increasingly belligerent and aggressive CCP to the peace, security, freedom, and values of the people of the United States by educating state leaders on the ubiquity of these threats to our supply chains, our technology, our food supplies, and our state infrastructure, and by proposing solutions that unite the efforts of state and federal leaders to reduce the corrupting influence and threat that China poses to our nation.
- Working with security and intelligence experts, think tanks, China policy specialists, and state-level advocates, we listen to better understand the dangerous agenda of the Chinese communist government and how that agenda poses threats to state government infrastructure, utilities, supply chains, agriculture, technology, and higher education.
- We educate state and local leaders on how those threats affect their government operations, finances, and business ventures.
- We work with experts and local leaders to devise policies and practices as well as legal and regulatory structures that counter China's espionage, theft of intellectual property, compromise of technology and infrastructure, and suppression of individual freedoms and human rights.
